The 2017 Golden Globes has awarded the year’s winners of different sections during a ceremony held on Sunday.
Hosted by Jimmy Fallon, the event witnessed the critically-acclaimed musical 'La La Land' wins all seven of the categories it was nominated in.
'La La Land' directed by Damian Chazelle won awards for Best Original Score, Best Original Song, Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture — Comedy or Musical, Best Screenplay, Best Director, Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture — Comedy or Musical and Best Motion Picture.
Iranian director Asghar Farhadi’s ‘The Salesman’ was a nominee for the Best Foreign Language Film and had a good chance to win, however, the French movie ‘Elle’ manage to win the award.
‘The Salesman’ has also been chosen to represent Iran at the 2017 Academy Awards.
The film tells the story of a young couple named Emad (Shahab Hosseini) and Rana (Taraneh Alidoosti) who move into a new flat in the center of Tehran. But an incident linked to the previous tenant dramatically changes their life.
The film has already won double awards for best screenplay and best actor at the Cannes Film Festival this year.
